Women's Outdoor Track And Field Finishes Third At Brown

Providence, R.I. - The University of Rhode Island women's track and field notched a third place finish at the Brown Invitational on Saturday. Brown University won the event with a total of 179 points, Dartmouth placed second with 105 and Rhode Island finished third with 96.
The highlight of the meet for Rhode Island came from Kelly Hagner (Clifton Park, N.Y.) who won the discus with a throw of 135 feet, 11 inches. This set a new senior record for Hagner, and also moves her up to third in the all-time list for Rhode Island. Hagner also notched a second place finish in the hammer, with a throw of 164-00. Hartford's Johanna Doyle won with a throw of 187-00. Hagner also placed eigth in the shot put with a throw of 38-02.75.
Rhode Island placed two in the top three of the 400 meter dash. Destiny Woodbury (Providence, R.I.) placed second with a time of 57.41, and Amber Price (Westerly. R.I.) posted a third place finish with 57.97.
Sophomore Lindsay Vieira (North Kingstown, R.I.) finished third in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 17:41.67.
Junior Jen Strysko (Hillburn, N.Y.) posted a second place finish in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:03.58.
Rhode Island consistently performed well in the team events. The 4x100, consisting of Caitlin Hurley, Destiny Woodbury, Theresa Martins and Amber Price, placed second with a time of 48.00 seconds. The 4x400 team came in second as well with a time of 3.29.9. Amber Price, Destiny Woodbury, Lucy Duncan and Colleen Jones comprised the 4x400 team.
The Rams will return to action on April 14 when they compete in the Holy Cross Invitational.
