PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Rhode Island senior Stephanie Maugham established a Penn Relays meet record in the women's pole vault this afternoon at the 106th Penn Relays held at the University of Pennsylvania.
Maugham, who is only the second URI female athlete to win an event at the Penn Relays in the 23-year history of the program, vaulted 12' 1/2" to place first in the field of 29. URI's Liz Legault was the Penn Relays hammer throw champion in 1991.
Maugham, a native of Medford, N.J., holds the URI indoor and outdoor pole vault records. Last year, she was the Atlantic 10 and New England Indoor champion, and finished 16th at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
