Val Villucci Returns to URI as Head Women's Tennis Coach [+]
Villucci - who coached the Rhody men's squad from 2004-08 - returns to the University after taking a year off following the elimination of the URI men's program. Villucci also coached the URI women from 1993-2004.

Sandy Wood Resigns as URI Women's Tennis Head Coach [+]
In Wood's first season at Rhode Island (2004-05) the Rams finished with an overall record 4-16. Over the next four years, URI combined to go 64-23 with a record 16 wins in 2007-08.

Senior Grace Hedstrom landed a spot on the league's All-Academic squad for the third consecutive season while freshman Kirsten Leikem earned All-Conference Second Team honors.

The fourth-seeded Rhode Island tennis team fell to eighth-seeded Saint Louis, 4-0, Saturday afternoon at the 2009 Atlantic 10 Championship. With the loss, the Rams finish tied for seventh place overall.

The fourth-seeded Rhode Island tennis team fell to fifth-seeded Charlotte, 4-0, in the second round of the 2009 Atlantic 10 Championship. Rhody will now face #8 Saint Louis in the consolation bracket, Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

#4 Rhody Tennis Defeats #13 St. Bonaventure at A-10 Championship [+]
The fourth-seeded Rhode Island tennis team defeated #13 St. Bonaventure, 4-0, in the opening round of the 2009 Atlantic 10 Championship. The Rams advance to take on the winner of #5 Charlotte and #12 Saint Joseph's, tonight at 6 p.m.

Tennis Defeats Sacred Heart, 6-1, on Senior Day [+]
The Rhode Island tennis team improved to 14-2 on the season with a 6-1 win over visiting Sacred Heart, Tuesday afternoon. Rhody took the doubles point, winning all three matches before taking all but one in singles play.
