Alex Geremia Signs NLI to Play Tennis at Rhode Island

KINGSTON, R.I. - Head coach Val Villucci has announced that Alex Geremia will join the Rhode Island women's tennis program beginning in the fall of 2010.

"Alex is going to be a great fit and addition to the team," said Villucci. "She will help continue to raise the level of our program as she brings with her exceptional national tournament experience and is rated one of the top juniors nationally. We feel very fortunate to have another local player contribute to the success of the URI women's tennis team."

Played tennis at South Kingstown High School... Turned in a perfect 13-0 record and earned All-State honors after winning the state singles title in 2008... Was ranked No. 1 in Rhode Island, No. 7 in New England and No. 196 in the nation when she committed to URI... Received the 2009 Harvard Book Award and is a member of the Spanish Honor Society.

Born December 29, 1991... Daughter of Mary Lynn and Tim Geremia... Favorite athlete is Steffi Graf... Favorite teams are the Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics... Enjoys going to the beach, playing basketball and softball, working out, listening to music and watching movies... Plans to major in Kinesiolgy with future plans of becoming a physical therapist.
