2008 Championship Bracket | Day One Results 

PITTSBURGH - The sixth-seeded Rhode Island women's tennis team posted a 4-2 win over No. 11 Dayton before falling to third-seeded Richmond, 4-0, in the first day of competition at the Atlantic 10 Championship.

Against the Flyers, Rhody dropped the doubles point but came back and claimed the match in singles play with straight-set victories from Nyssa Peele (No. 1), Christen Cadigan (No. 2), Amanda Barletta (No. 5) and Kristen Liu (No. 6).

The win over Dayton advanced Rhody to a second-round matchup against four-time reigning A-10 Champion Richmond. There, the Rams surrendered the doubles point before dropping three singles matches (Peele at No. 1, Grace Hedstrom at No. 3 and Valerie Chacon at No. 4) to give the Spiders the 4-0 win.

Rhody is back in action against No. 7 Charlotte, Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
