Women's Tennis Downs Tufts, 5-2

STUART, Fla. - The Rhode Island women's tennis team defeated Tufts University, 5-2, Monday afternoon. Rhody captured the doubles point and went on to win four-of-six singles matches.
TU - which entered the match ranked 11th in the newly released Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division 3 poll - picked up a victory at No. 1 doubles but Amanda Barletta and Pam Emery got the win at No. 2 and Valerie Chacon and Christen Cadigan teamed up for a W at the third position.
In singles play, Emery, Tristany Leikem, Grace Hedstrom and Barletta took down their opponents at #2, #3, #5 and #6, respectively.
The win improves URI to 9-1 on the year while Tufts drops to 2-1.
The Rams are back in action on Wednesday afternoon when they face Long Island University in Orlando, Fla.
