Rhode Island Earns Wins Over Siena, Monmouth in Day One of URI Invitational

How It Happened

Rhode Island earned two victories in the first day of play at the URI Invitational, held at the Hassenfeld Tennis Complex.  The Rams earned a 5-0 victory over Monmouth and a 3-2 win versus Siena on Saturday afternoon.

URI swept Monmouth in the afternoon match, with Brooke Fennell and Taylor Holden combining to win their doubles match.  In singles play, Rachel Smilansky, Ariel Haber, Emily Zargham, and Jordan Rucks were all victorious.  

Rhody started the day with a 3-2 win over Siena.  After narrowly dropping the doubles match, Mihaela Codreanu, Rachel Smilansky, and Tiara Higuchi sealed the team win with victories in singles play.
