Women's Swimming & Diving Falls To Duquesne And Fordham

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The University of Rhode Island men's and women's swimming & diving teams lost to Duquesne and Fordham on Saturday at Duquesne. The men's team lost to Duquesne 133-84 and fell to Fordham 153-82. The women's team dropped a 138-98 decision to Duquesne and lost to Fordham 156-86. Junior Ben Robinson (Sinking Springs, Pa.) won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:42.84 and finished second in the 500 freestyle in 4:50.01. Senior Matthew Emmert (Clearmont, Fla.) took second in the 100 freestyle in 48.65 and finished third in the 200 individual medley in 2:01.93. Freshman Kevin Donlevy (Lake Grove, N.Y.) finished third in the 200 freestyle in 1:48.17 and freshman Anthony Randall (Harrisburg, Pa.) took third in the 50 freestyle in 22.15 seconds. Freshman John Proctor (Ocala, Fla.) placed third in the 200 breaststroke in 2:18.46. Rhode Island's 400 freestyle relay team of Randall, Donlevy, freshman John Carey (Haddam, Conn.) and Emmert finished second in a time of 3:15.99. For the women, freshman Kourtney McMenamin (Warrington, Pa.) won the 200 breaststroke in 2:28.83. Freshman Alyse Mauro (Lake Forest, Ill.) posted two third-place finishes in the 500 freestyle (5:12.64) and 200 freestyle (1:56.20). Junior Jodi Tveitmoe (Westminister, Colo.)placed second in the 200 butterfly in 2:12.95.
Freshman Kelly Tyler (East Longmeadow, Mass.) placed second in the 1-meter dive with 193.12 points and took second in the 3-meter dive with 200.85 points.
The Rhode Island men drop to 3-2 and the women fall to 2-3. The Rams return to action on Dec. 5-7 when they host the Harold Anderson Meet. |
