DURHAM, N.H. - The University of Rhode Island women's swimming & diving team lost to New Hampshire 221-79 in the season opener Friday.

Freshman Alyse Mauro (Lake Forest, Ill.) finished second in three events to lead the Rams (0-1). Mauro finished second in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.24 seconds, took second in the 200 backstroke in 2:10.42 and was the runner-up in the 200 individual medley in 2:14.71.

Freshman Kelly Tyler (East Longmeadow, Mass.) took second in both the 1-meter dive and the 3-meter dive, scoring 202.65 and 202.95, respectively. Junior Caroline Rousseau (Nashua, N.H.) placed second in the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:22.97
