Women's Swimming & Diving Falls To Boston University, 154-145

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island women's swimming & diving team battled a tough Boston University squad, before falling 154-145 Saturday in the final home meet of the season at the Tootell Aquatic Center.

Senior Kate Hawley (Centerville, Mass.) won the 1,000 freestyle in the last home meet of her career in a time of 10:50.02.

Rhode Island junior Catherine Grise (Chicopee, Mass.) won the 50 freestyle in 25.64 seconds and was a member of both winning relay teams.

Rhode Island's 200 medley relay team of sophomore Kari Leonard (Pownal, Maine), sophomore Ginny Sorrell (Indianapolis, Ind.), senior Shannon Lelek (Fairport, N.Y.) and Grise won in 1:53.37.

Rhode Island's 200 freestyle relay team of Leonard, Grise, freshman Elaina Duggan (Portsmouth, R.I.) and senior Jessica Scherer (Montgomery Village, Mary.) won in 1:41.28.

Rhode Island finished the season 6-8 and will compete in the Atlantic 10 Championships, Feb. 20-22 at St. Bonaventure.
