POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Junior Katherine Grise (Chicopee, Mass.) won two individual events and was a member of both winning relay teams as the Rhode Island swimming & diving team defeated Marist 155-142 Saturday.

Grise won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.98 seconds and finished first in the 100 freestyle in 56.14 seconds. She anchored the 200 medley relay team that won in a time of 1:44.44 and was a member of the 200 freestyle relay team that took first in a time of 1:41.65.

Senior Kate Hawley (Centerville, Mass.) and sophomore Jodi Tveitmoe (Westminister, Colo.) also won two individual events apiece. Hawley took first in the 200 freestyle in 2:00.55 and won the 400 individual medley in 4:41.03. Tveitmoe won the 1,000 freestyle in 10:46.96 and took first in the 200 butterfly in 2:10.64.

Sophomore Lauren Kerivan (North Reading, Mass.) won the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:32.08 and senior Shannon Lelek (Fairport, N.Y.) placed first in the 100 butterfly in 59.83 seconds.

Joining Grise on the victorious 200 medley relay team (1:44.44) were sophomore Kari Leonard (Pownal Maine), senior Jessica Scherer (Montgomery Village, Mary.) and Lelek. The 200 freestyle relay team that placed first in 1:41.65 included Leonard, Grise, freshman Elaina Duggan (Portsmouth, R.I.) and Scherer.

The Rams (6-7), return to action Saturday with a home meet against Boston University at 1 p.m. at the Tootell Aquatic Center.
