Freeport High School

A four year captain of the swimming team from 1998-2001...Also a four year state champion in the 100-meter backstroke during those years...Named team MVP for three years...A four-time all-state selection...Also won the state title in the 100-meter fly and the 200-meter freestyle...A honor roll student all four years in high school...Was also the yearbook co-editor in 2001.

Born Kari Sheffield Leonard 1/14/83 to John and Rebecca Leonard...A nursing major at URI with plans of getting her RN license...Attends URI on a Centennial Scholarship...Is the younger sister of teammate Megan Leonard...Has visited Spain, France, Germany, Austria, Poland, and Canada...Hobbies include dancing, quilting, and listening to music.
