Rhode Island Visits Providence for In-State Matchup

Rhode Island will head to the Taylor Natatorium Wednesday, Nov. 7 to take on the Providence College Friars. The meet is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. 

Rhode Island vs. Providence

  • This marks the 24th meeting between the two schools. The series dates back to 1984.
  • For 15 consecutive years, the Rams and the Friars have faced off in the pool. 
  • Rhode Island earned a 175-95 win over Providence in least season's matchup. 
  • At that meet, Katy Evans led the Rams by sweeping the diving events. The relay team of Mackenna Dunn, Nicole Petta, Brooke Kelley and Maddie Horner won the 200-yard medley relay, while the two other Rhody entries rounded out the top three finishes. 

Last Time in the Pool

  • The Rams are coming off a 151-148 win over La Salle.
  • The team was led by the senior captains, each of whom earned big points for Rhody. Nicole Petta won the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard IM, Eliza Anderson won the 50-yard freestyle and Grace Kneller won the 100-yard freestyle. Caitlyn Blake was a member of the quartet that won the 200-yard medley relay. 
  • Sophomore Kelly Blake won the 100-yard butterfly. 
  • Junior Maddie Horner, senior Grace Kneller, sophomore Kelly Blake and senior Eliza Anderson finished off the meet with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
