Rams Travel to Staten Island to Battle Wagner College

Kingston, R.I. - The Rhode Island Swimming and Diving team will continue their season in Staten Island, New York as they play visitor to Wagner College. The meet will take place on Saturday, January 13 at 1:00 p.m. at the Spiro Sports Center.

 Rhode Island vs. Wagner

  • Rhode Island holds the advantage in the all-time head-to-head series against Wagner, 4-3-1.
  • The two teams first met head-to-head on Jan. 23, 2010. The Rams edged out the Seahawks, 148-114.
  • Rhody won the first four meets in the series, but have gone 0-3-1 since.
  • The only tie in Rhode Island swimming & diving history occurred against Wagner. On Jan. 17, 2015 at Rhode Island, the two teams swam to a 150-150 tie.
  • Last season at Wagner, the Seahawks outswam the Rams to a 164-134 victory.

 Last Time in the Pool

  • Rhody competed in "The Harold Anderson Invitational" on November 17-18, finishing in first place out the six teams that participated.  
  • Sophomore Caitlin Guccione won the 100yd butterfly with a 57.23 final time. Guccione finished in first place in the 200yd butterfly as well.
  • Senior Hannah Homans' 57.13 final time in the 100yd backstroke placed her first place. She finished second in the 200yd backstroke.
  • Senior Sydney Williams finished first in the 1650yd freestyle. 
  • Junior Nicole Petta finished first in the 100yd breaststroke, posting a 1:04.53 final time. She also finished in first place in the 200yd breasttroke with a 2:21.61 time. 
  • Junior Grace Kneller, Petta, junior Eliza Anderson and sophomore Mackenna Dunn together posted a 3:34.54 time that finished first in the 400yd freestyle relay.
  • Rhode Island finished first in the 400yd medley relay that included Homans, Petta, Guccione and Dunn.
  • Teammates Anderson, Kneller, Kendra Graham and Dunn together finished third in the 200yd freestyle relay.
  • Sophomore Katy Evans scored a 225.65 final score that placed her second in the 3-meter dive. Her 224.30 final score placed her third in the 1-meter dive.
  • Sophomore Emma Grace Pecha finished third in the 500yd freestyle with a 5:07.97 time.
