Rams Welcome Springfield College on Saturday

Nov. 14, 2009

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island Swimming and Diving Team returns to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday against non-conference opponent Springfield College at the Tootell Aquatics Center.

The Rams look to continue their strong start to the season having defeated Maine and Providence College 155-145 and 162-91, respectively. Junior Lillian Falconer has won four individual events and has been a vital part in the squad's relay teams in the first two meets.

Sophomore Katie Mangano and freshman Susan Nugent are showing promise for the Rams as they combined for four first place finishes last weekend. Junior Samantha Baylor will look to build off of her strong performance from last week in both the one meter and three meter diving events as Springfield will bring a solid group of divers.

The Pride enters the meet after coming off a pair of wins over Holy Cross and Smith College.

The Rams have competed against the Pride in each of the last five years and have come out victorious in each of those meetings, including a 156.6-143.5 victory a year ago.

Rhody will look to continue their winning streak this weekend as the Pride attempts to defeat the Rams for the first time in school history.
