Swimming Defeats Springfield College, 156.5-143.5

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Rhode Island women's swimming and diving team defeated Springfield College 156.5-143.5 on Saturday at the Art Linkletter Natatorium.

URI's win over Springfield marked its fifth win this season.

Sophomores Kinsey Tarbell (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and Lilli Falconer (Chicago, Ill.) each won three individual events to lead the way for the Rams.

Tarbell won three individual events for third straight week as she claimed first in the 200 (1:56.03) 100 (54.15) and 50-yard (25.46) freestyle events.

Falconer took the top spot in the 200 IM (2:12.89), 200 butterfly (2:11.40) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:12.96).

Senior Kelsey Foy (Fanwood, N.J.) won a pair of distance events as she claimed the 1,000 (10:50.52) and 500-yard (5:17.90) freestyle events, respectively.

Freshman Katie Mangano (Westerly, R.I.) collected her third straight victory in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.44).

Sophomore Melissa Flynn (Andover, N.J) also added a first place finish for the Rams as she won the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.91).

The Rams return to action on Nov. 22 (Sat.) as they travel to New York, N.Y. to faceoff against Duquesne and Fordham. The meet is set to begin at 12:30 p.m.
