Women's Swimming Honored as a Scholar All-American Team

July 9, 2009

KINGSTON, R.I. -- The University of Rhode Island women's swimming team was honored by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as a Scholar All-American team for the 2009 Spring semester.

Head coach Mick Westkott's squad compiled a 3.07 grade-point average this past semester.

Five members of the swimming team earned a spot A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll - earning a GPA of 3.5 or better: Johanna Buchta (Jr./Nashua, N.H./Communication Studies); Erica Courtmanche (Sr./Hamden, Conn./History); Kimberly Kreho (Sr./Shelton, Conn./Marketing); Andrea LeBarge (Sr./Lee, N.H./Marine Affairs); Megan O'Brien (Jr./Whitefish Bay, Wis./Marine Biology)

The CSCAA selects and honors teams as Scholar All-American teams twice a year, once after each semester (Fall/winter, Spring). To earn CSCAA Scholar All-American team honors, a swimming team must have a minimum of a 3.00 GPA for the semester.
