Women's Swimming and Diving Takes Harold Anderson Meet for Third Consecutive Year

Kingston, R.I. - The women's swimming and diving team won the 8th annual Harold Anderson meet this past weekend, winning it for the 6th time in the past eight years.
Alyse Mauro and Elaine Duggan led the Rams. Mauro took first place in the 200 IM, the 400 IM and the 200-yard backstroke. Duggan won the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle.
Also having strong performances for Rhode Island were Kourtney McMenamin, Jodi Tveitmoe Kelly Tyler, Alexia Poole, Kari Leonard, Megan Leonard, Catherine Grise and Caroline Rousseau. McMenamin finished first in the 200-yard backstroke and second in the 200 IM. Tyler came in first in the 3-meter diving competition and finished second in the 1-meter diving competition.
Alexia Poole recorded second place finishes in the 100-meter butterfly and the 200-meter butterfly. Kari Leonard won the 100-yard backstroke and Megan Leonard finished second in the 500-yard freestyle. Catherine Grise finished second in the 100-yard freestyle. Caroline Rousseau won the 200-yard freestyle for the Rams.
The Rams won all five relays, coming in second in three of them as well.
Tveitmoe, Rousseau, Duggan and Katherine Mason teamed up to win the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 8:06.21.
Rhode Island took the top two spots in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team made of Grise, Duggan, Megan Leonard and Kari Leonard came in first with a time of 1:43.48. Coming in less than one second behind them was the team made of Mauro, Rousseau, Poole and Kelly Whalen.
The Rams also went 1 and 2 in the 400-yard medley relay. Kari Leonard, McMenamin, Poole and Grise combined for a time of 4:10.78 to win the race. Mauro, Virginia Sorrell, Tveitmoe and Rousseau had a time of 4:11.37 to come in second place.
The winning 200-yard freestyle relay team was made up of Kari Leonard, McMenamin, Poole and Grise. They finished with a time of 1:55.34.
URI also took the top two spots in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Grise, Mauro, Sarah Toltin and McMenamin had a time of 3:44.75 to finish in first. Duggan, Rousseau, Poole and Tveitmoe had a time of 3:47.28 to come in second.
