Swimming Swept By Marist

KINGSTON, R.I. - The University of the Rhode Island men's and women's swimming & diving teams were swept by Marist on Saturday at the Tootell Aquatic Center.

The women's team lost 163-137 and the men's team fell 175-105.

Junior Jodi Tveitmoe (Westminister, Colo.) won the 200 butterfly (2:11.24) and the 200 individual medley (2:13.73) for the Rams.

Sophomore Elaina Duggan (Portsmouth, R.I.) won the 100 freestyle in 55.60 seconds and freshman Alyse Mauro (Lake Forest, Ill.) took first in the 200 freestyle in 1:58.02. Freshman Alexia Pool (Montgomery Village, Md.) finished first in the 100 butterfly (1:01.17).

Junior Ginny Sorrell (Indianapolis, Ind.) took second in the 100 backstroke 1:03.11, freshman Kourtney McMenamin (Warrington, Pa.) took second in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.99) and the 200 breaststroke (2:29.60). Junior Caroline Rousseau (Nashua, N.H.) placed second in the 500 freestyle (5:18.82).

The Rams' 400 freestyle relay team of Kari Leonard (Pownal, Maine), Mauro, Catherine Grise (Chicopee, Mass.) and Duggan won in 3:43.60.

Junior Ben Robinson (Sinking Spring, Pa.) won the 200 individual medley in 2:00.67 and placed second in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.13). Junior Matt Hartke (Verona, N.J.) won the 200 butterfly in 54.88 seconds.

Senior Matthew Emmert (Clearmont, Fla.) finished second in the 50 freestyle (22.34). Freshman Kevin Donlevy (Lake Grove, N.Y.) took second in the 200 freestyle (1:48.70) and fellow frosh John Proctor (Ocala, Fla.) placed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.36).

Rhode Island's 400 freestyle relay team of Jake Traskos (Westerly, R.I.), Anthony Randall (Harrisburg, Pa.), Proctor and John Carey (Haddam, Conn.) won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:19.67.

The Rams return to action at Boston University next Saturday at 1 p.m.
