The Rams scored two more in the second from a RBI single by Hiteman, scoring Jamie Plamondon. Kassie Harrelson crossed the plate soon after on an error by the Massachusetts's shortstop. UMass added one in the fourth and two in the sixth to take the game 8-3.

Katie Halcomb (12-12) allowed six earned runs on 15 hits while registering the loss. UMass starter Brandice Balschmitter (23-7) pitched a complete game, allowing just three earned runs on three hits while striking out eight Rams in recording the win.

In game two, Rhode Island again jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, scoring in the top half of the third. Courtney Wall hit a RBI single to score Danielle Quimby. UMass came back and scored six runs in the bottom half of the third to go on top 6-1. The Rams added two more in the fifth when Christine Gentile and Martino crossed the plate after a single by Pamondon. UMass scored three in the bottom half of the fifth to take the game 11-3 in five innings.

Jill Anderson suffered the loss, throwing 2.2 innings and giving up six earned runs while surrendering seven hits. Jenna Busa (9-6) recorded the win for UMass, pitching five innings and allowing two earned runs on five hits.
