Rhode Island Drops Battle With Tennessee Tech

How it Happened
An early lead for Rhode Island was erased by Tennessee Tech who scored four runs in the fourth inning to hand Rhody a 8-7 loss in game two of the doubleheader Tuesday.

Rhode Island started out hot by scoring three runs in the first inning. Emily Zembik reached first after being hit by a pitch and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Rebecca Simms was walked and advanced to second after an Erica Robles single that also drove in Zembik to score. A Kylie Shivery single brought in Simms and Robles to cap the inning.

In the bottom of the second, Tennessee Tech was able to get on the board with a run. The Rams scored two more runs in the top of the third. Paige Julich reached on a fielder's choice, and then advanced to second after Caileigh Holland was walked. Both runners were able to steal a base and a single by Melanie Martire brought them home.

The Golden Eagles began their rally in the bottom of the fourth, when they scored four runs - including two home runs - to get on top 6-5. They added another run in the fifth.

Rhody tied things up at 7-7 in the sixth after a two-run home run by Robles with Simms on first. However the Golden Eagles were able to score on a wild pitch in the bottom of the inning to take the 8-7 victory.
