PHILADELPHIA -- The University of Rhode Island's women's soccer team was picked to finish fourth according to the 2008 Atlantic 10 preseason coaches poll, it was announced today.

The Rams are coming off a 2007 campaign in which the team finished 12-6-2 overall and 6-4-1 in conference play.

Defending champion Charlotte tops the poll, followed by Dayton and Saint Louis.

Rhode Island begins 2008 regular season play on Friday, Aug. 22 when it travels to College Station to take on Texas A&M. URI opens up its home slate on Thursday, Aug. 28, facing Boston University at 7 p.m. at the URI Soccer Complex.
