2008 Preseason All-Conference Teams

KINGSTON, R.I. -- Two members of URI's incoming class of newcomers - Agnes Arnadottir and Alexis Veith - have been honored as part of the 2008 Atlantic 10 Preseason Women's Soccer All-Rookie team, it was announced today.

Arnadottir is a native of Reykjavik, Iceland and comes to URI with stellar international credentials. She was a member of the U17 and U19 Icelandic National Teams, captaining the U19 National Team during the 2008 European Championship. She also played for Klub Reykjavik, where she was chosen as the most promising player for her age group from 2000-2003.

Veith earned All-American honors as a senior at Lewis Mills H.S. in Burlington, Conn. She helped her high school squad to four consecutive Berkshire League Championships. A four-time First Team All-Berkshire League, Veith was a three-time All-New England player. She competed for the Connecticut State Select Team and the Region 1 ODP team.

The Rams open the 2008 regular season on Aug. 22, at Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.
