Barrientos Named to A-10 Preseason All-Rookie Team

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island women's soccer newcomer Jennifer Barrientos was named to the 2009 Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Rookie team, it was announced today by the league office.

Barrientos, a forward from Reseda, Calif., was a member of the So Cal Blues and Laguna Hills Eclipse clubs in Southern California. During her club career, her teams won the Coast Premier League and won the Surf Cup Championship. She was named MVP of three club tournaments: the Sun Cup, the Surf Cup and the Coca-Cola Cup.

While at Redlands East Valley, she was named the MVP in the Valley Mission League and received the CIF/Los Angeles City Section Athletic Award. She was also selected to the ODP Region IV Pool First Team in her lone year as an ODP player.

The Rams begin play in the upcoming 2009 season with an Aug. 23 exhibition before opening regular season play on Aug. 27 at Boston University. Rhody's first home game is set for Aug. 30 against New Hampshire at the URI Soccer Complex.
