KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island women's rowing freshman Lindsay Stephenson is one of 22 collegiate rowers invited to attend the 2011 USRowing Women's National Team Freshman Camp this summer.
The camp will be held June 19-25 at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., and will be run by two-time Olympian Hilary Gehman, women's head coach at Cornell.
The freshman camp is intended for athletes with elite-level potential and aspirations, who are freshmen in college or have only one or two years of rowing experience. The camp will expose athletes to the national team experience, training two to three times per day, rowing in all boat categories, learning technical and physiological basics, and training with athletes of a similar caliber.
Stephenson joined the team this past fall as a walk-on to the novice squad and has worked her way up into the varsity four boat this spring.
