Rams Compete at Head of the Charles

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The University of Rhode Island women's rowing team sent three teams to the Head of the Charles Regatta this past weekend. The Rams finished seventh in the Lightweight Fours, 18th in the Championship Fours, and 28th in the Championship Eights.

Led by senior Ashley Coughlin (North Attleboro, Mass.) as the cox, the Lightweight Fours finished with a time of 19:39.027. The other members of the boat were junior Karin Fulkerson (Amelia, Ohio), sophomore Beth McArdle (Coventry, R.I.), junior Mallory Fossa (Mystic, Conn.), and senior Jill Brockman (Pawtucket, R.I.).

The Championship Eights boat finished the race in 17:39.191. The skull consisted of senior Whitney Phaup (Gloucester, Va.), sophomore Meghan Wolfe (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.), freshman Nicole Klaiber (Clifton Park, N.Y.), freshman Tamara Burman, senior Amy VanRensburg (Manalapan, N.J.), sophomore Jenna Hetzell (Jamesburg, N.J.), sophomore Becky Cotreau (Nashua, N.H.), and senior Lucy Sumners (Gainsville, Fla.).

The Championship Fours group finished with a time of 19:34.186.

Undine Barge Club of Philadelphia captured the Lightweight Fours race with a time of 18:32.293 while London Training Center won the Championship Fours, posting a time of 19:34.186. The US Rowing Princeton Training Center came away with a win in the Championship Eights, finishing in 17:39.191.

 

 

The Rams return to action on November 17 when they compete at the Foot of the Charles in Cambridge Mass.
