Rowing Wins Women's Open Eight At Textile River Regatta

LOWELL, Mass. - The Rhode Island women's rowing team captured the first two spots in the Women's Open Eight at the 29th annual Textile River Regatta on Sunday afternoon.
URI's Crew A boat won the regatta with a time of 20:27.877. The Rams' Crew C boat placed second as it clocked a time of 21:13.134. Rhody's Crew B boat finished seventh with a time of 22:02.255.
"We had a great day today," said Rhode Island Rowing head coach Shelagh Donohoe. "Taking first and second today really shows that we have some good depth."
Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire also entered boats in the regatta.
"Our kids executed very well today," Donohoe said. "We still have some room to improve, but it is early in the season so it was a good starting point."
The Rams return to action on Oct. 11 as they compete in the Head of the Housatonic in Shelton, Conn.
