CAMDEN, N.J. - The Rhode Island women's rowing team posted a pair of top three finishes Sunday morning as it competed in the 2009 Eastern Sprints. The 36th annual event was held on the Cooper River.

In the petite final of the varsity eight, Rhody took third finishing in a time of 6:49.37. The University of Pennsylvania edged out the Rams by less then three seconds (6:46.43) to win the event.

In the varsity four, Rhody defeated Georgetown (8:22.32) to win event.

Other events saw Rhody finish fifth (7:08.27) in the second varsity eight and third (8:17.24) in the novice eight.
