Liz Tuppen begins her third season in 2011 as the novice coach at the University of Rhode Island.
In her first season at URI, Tuppen directed the novice eight to a winning performance at the 2010 Atlantic 10 Championship as it posted a performance of 7:10.07.
The Buffalo, N.Y. native joined the staff after spending six years at the Ohio State University as a student-athlete and as an assistant coach.
"We are excited to have Liz join our staff," said URI head coach Shelagh Donohoe. "Her competitive rowing background, positive energy and attention to detail will be an asset to our novice program. I look forward to working with her throughout the 2009-10 season."
In 2009, Tuppen coached the OSU Varsity 4+ squad to a Big Ten and Central Regional Championship. She also helped direct the Varsity 4+ to a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Championship where the squad finished seventh. As a student-athlete at OSU, Tuppen helped her squad to a fourth-place finish at the 2003 NCAA Championship.
Tuppen graduated in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in Women's Studies. Tuppen got her start in rowing at the Westside Rowing Club in Buffalo, N.Y.
