Penn Hands URI Gymnastics a 190.200-188.075 Loss

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The University of Rhode Island gymnastics team suffered a 190.200-188.075 defeat at the hands of the University of Pennsylvania Wedneday night at Hutchinson Gym.
The Rams posted wins on both the vault and bars. Senior Erica Heaney (North Plainfield, N.J.) and sophomore Ananda Fraser (Diego Martin, Trinidad) each recorded a score of 9.650 on the vault to lead URI and tie for second overall. On the bars, Heaney led the Rams with a score of 9.750, which was the second-highest overall.
The Quakers, meanwhile, picked up wins on the beam and the floor exercise. Heaney again paced the Rams on the beam with a team-best score of 9.175 while Fraser received a mark of 9.675 on the floor to lead URI. She finished third overall on the floor.
The Rams return to action Friday evening when they travel to Williamsburg, Va. to face the Tribe of William & Mary.
