Rams Place Second at Ocean State Challenge

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The University of Rhode Island gymnastics team placed second at the Ocean State Challenge Sunday afternoon at Brown University. The Bears placed first with a score of 186.200, followed by URI in second with 185.000 points and Rhode Island College in third with 168.775 points. URI locked up first and second place finishes on the vault, as sophomore Ananda Fraser (Diego Martin, Trinidad) posted a 9.700 and junior Lauren Wasilewski (Barnegat Light, N.J.) followed with a 9.650. On the floor exercise, freshman Danielle Riportella (Great River, N.Y.) (9.575) and Fraser (9.550) came in first and second place, respectively. Riportella also placed second in the all-around with a 37.175. The Rams return to action on Friday when they compete against Illinois State.
