    2002-03 (Senior)

  • Still nursing ACL injury from sophomore year, has competed in every meet on the bars for the Rams.
  • Tied for 3rd on bars (9.700) at the home duel meet against Brown on Feb. 19th.
  • Tied for 1st on bars (9.875) at the Atlantic 10 Invitational on March 29th.

    2001-02 (Junior)

  • Participated in nine of the Rams 11 meets on bars.
  • Worked hard through out the season to return to the line-up on beam and floor.
  • Earned a season high score of 9.750 away at Yale, helping the Rams grab the victory.

    2000-01 (Sophomore)

  • Named Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week twice in an injury-shortened season.
  • In last meet before injury, scored 39.250 in all-around (second best mark in school history) to finish 3rd at URI Invitational Feb. 4....Fell just .2 short of own record (39.450), set in 2000....Won second Atlantic 10 Performer of Week award of season.
  • Also broke school record in bars with 9.950 at URI Invitational....Took 1st in both bars and beam (9.950).
  • Broke school mark in beam with 9.950 in Jan. 13 season opener at Yale.…Also tied Stephanie Clarke's year-old school record in bars with 9.900 (and surpassed that mark three weeks later).

    1999-2000 (Freshman)

  • Named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year despite bone spurs in ankle that required postseason surgery. Second in team history to receive that award.
  • Earned school-record five medals (one gold, four silver) at Atlantic 10 championships March 18 at UMass. Finished 1st on beam (9.875) and 2nd on bars (9.875), tied for 2nd in vault (9.750) and floor exercise (9.950). Placed 2nd in all-around (39.450), just .05 behind winner Devin McCalla of George Washington.
  • At Atlantic 10 championships, broke school record in all-around with 39.450, topping Rena Ranieri's year-old mark of 39.200. Also tied school mark in floor exercise (9.950); earned then-second highest mark in school history on bars, now third highest (9.875); and equalled then-third highest mark on beam, now fourth highest (9.875).
  • Placed 6th in all-around (38.725) at NCAA regional April 1 at Penn State, where she qualified as the regional's top all-around competitor.
  • Named Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week for Jan. 24-30 after leading Rams to narrow 192.025-191.450 upset over North Carolina in fourth meet of career. Competed in three events, winning uneven bars (9.825) and placing 3rd on both beam (season-high 9.875) and floor (season-high 9.800).
  • Won four Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week awards (weeks of Jan. 10-16, Jan. 31-Feb. 6, Feb. 14-20 and Feb. 21-27).
  • Earned first Rookie of Week award one week into college career after winning beam (9.600) and floor exercise (9.700) in Jan. 11 season opener at Brown, then finishing 2nd on floor against Yale (9.750) five days later.
  • Claimed second Rookie award after placing 1st on floor (9.800) and 2nd in vault (9.725) and all-around (38.575) in Feb. 4 dual-meet loss at New Hampshire….Two days later, won beam (9.850), floor (9.700) and all-around (38.700) while taking 2nd on bars (9.825) in win over William & Mary.
  • Third Rookie honor came on heels of dominant performance at Feb. 19 URI Invitational, where she placed in top three of 24 competitors in every event. Won beam (9.875) and all-around (38.900), took 2nd in vault (9.600) and bars (9.800), came in 3rd on floor (9.800).
  • Fourth and last Rookie award came after winning beam (9.875), taking 2nd in vault (9.775) and placing 3rd in all-around (38.700) in dual meet at George Washington.
  • Won three events plus all-around in March 13 rematch with William & Mary in final regular-season meet. Took 1st in vault (with career-high 9.825), bars (9.800), beam (9.875) and all-around (39.100).
  • Won 12 of 40 events she entered during regular season.

    Club / High School

  • Elite international competitor who represented U.S. in Hungary in 1994 and participated at Junior Pan American Games in Mexico, also in 1994.
  • Competed at 1994 Elite national championships with American Twisters club under coach Tim Rand.
  • Competed in all-around at USAG Level 10 nationals in both 1997 and 1998.
  • Took part in USAIGC nationals in 1993, 1994 and 1995.

  • Born Dec. 18, 1981 to Gladys and Francisco Medal in Plantation, Fla. Parents came to U.S. from Nicaragua.
  • Graduated from Coral Springs High in 1999.
  • Majoring in communications at URI with minor in leadership studies.
  • Served internship with URI Athletic Department marketing director during Fall 2001 semester.
  • Active in Student-Athlete Advisory Council, meeting with counterparts from other colleges in Philadelphia in December 2001. Also member of Ram Choices, a campus group advocating responsible alcohol management for student-athletes.
  • Has visited Mexico, Nicaragua, Argentina and Hungary.
  • Favorite pursuits include dancing.
