Rams Take Down Towson, 52-46

KINGSTON, R.I. - Senior guard Lindsay Harris had a career night at the Ryan Center Tuesday evening finishing with 20 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Rhode Island women's basketball team (5-6) past Towson, 52-46. Senior forward Andrea Buck finished with 12 points and seven rebounds, eight of those points came in the second half. Ashley Rivera scored nine points, eight of which came in the first half. Rhody out rebounded Towson 42-34 and held the Tigers to just 33% shooting from the field. URI also forced Towson into 15 turnovers. Rhody began the first half holding Towson to 18 points, which is the fewest points URI has given up in the opening half this season. The Rams shot 44.4% from the field and outscored Towson in the paint 18-10. Harris led the Rams in the first half with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Rams began the second half on a 7-0 run and held Towson to only two points in the first four minutes. Towson fought back cutting the deficit to seven points with 6:13 remaining in the game. Rhody then responded with a Harris jumper which ended the run. The Tigers would not go away quietly as they cut the lead to four with 1:39 remaining, but Rhody finished strong outscoring Towson in the final stretch 5-3. URI returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 29, when it opens play at the Blue Sky Classic with a 7 p.m. game vs. host Dartmouth.
