Harris was 6-of-12 from the floor, grabbing seven rebounds and blocking two shots. Rivera knocked down 3-of-10 from the perimeter while connecting on 4-of-4 from the charity stripe.
The Rams (2-4) and Golden Flash (4-1) traded baskets for much of the first nine minutes of the game. A Caitlin Kearns jumper cut the URI deficit to four - at 11-7 with 10:50 to play in the period - before Kent State began a 12-5 push over the next 4:35. The Golden Flashes led by as many as 19 points before taking a 32-16 advantage at the break.
In the second half, Kent State built its lead to as many as 28 points (57-29), but the Rams would not let up easily. URI outscored Kent, 17-7, over the final 9:06 of the contest.
For the game, Rhode Island shot 32.0% (16-50) from the floor and narrowly lost the battle on the glass, 45-44.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at Central Connecticut.
