KINGSTON, R.I. -- Safi Mojidi poured in a season-high 30 points - just three off her career-best - as Rhode Island captured its first Atlantic 10 victory of the season in a 56-48 win over St. Bonaventure this afternoon at the Ryan Center.

Mojidi scored 21 of her 30 points in the second half, connecting on 10-of-13 field goals for the game. She was 8-for-8 from the free throw line, while also grabbing six rebounds in 32 minutes of action.

The Rams began by scoring the game's first eight points of the contest, as Mojidi and Crystal Bellinger each connected on two field goals apiece to take an 8-0 lead over the first five minutes of play. The Bonnies would counter, going on a 12-4 push over the next seven minutes to tie the contest at 12.

SBU's Dana Mitchell connected on two free throws to give the Bonnies their first lead - 19-17 - with 1:41 left in the half. Rhody would trail 22-21 at the break.

In the second half, the Bonnies extended their lead to five points - at 28-23 with 16:43 left in regulation. But the Rams would take over on both ends of the court. Offensively, Amanda McGrew tallied four of the next six points, to give Rhody a 29-28 lead with 15:28 to go. URI's defense forced six turnovers and held St. Bonaventure to just one field goal for a six-and-a-half minute span.

A jumper by Mojidi with 4:28 remaining gave the Rams their biggest lead of the ballgame - nine points - at 48-39. The Bonnies would make a final push, going on a 7-2 spurt to cut it to four, at 50-46 with just under two minutes remaining.

Rhody would connect on 4-of-6 from the charity stripe down the stretch to seal the victory.

Amanda McGrew added eight points off the bench, connecting on 4-of-9 from the field, while Whitney Hollis grabbed a team-best seven rebounds. Crystal Bellinger added six points and six boards, while Sierra Cooper had five boards.

Rhody returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 23 when it travels to the Gateway City to take on Saint Louis. Tipoff time is set for 8 p.m. ET.
