Heather Gagne, who enters her first year at Rhode Island in 2011-12, serves as the athletic trainer for URI's women's basketball and tennis programs.

Prior to arriving in Kingston, Gagne was an assistant athletic trainer at American International College, where she worked primarily with the wrestling and women's lacrosse teams. She also worked for Ullucci Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy, covering various events from pee wee football to collegiate competitions.

From 2001-05, Gagne served in the United States Marine Corps and - after completing her time in the military - went on to earn undergraduate degrees in Athletic Training and Physical Education from Bridgewater State College in 2008.

She then served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Providence College and completed her Master's program in Guidance and Counselor Education in 2010. While at PC, she worked with women's soccer as well as the swimming and diving teams. Gagne is a native of Dartmouth, Mass.
