Nicole Girard enters her fourth season with the Rhode Island staff in 2017-18. She was promoted to director of operations for the Rhode Island women's basketball team before the start of the 2015-16 season after originally joining the staff in October of 2014 as the team's video coordinator.
Girard previously was an assistant coach at Rhode Island College, her alma mater. From March of 2012 through September 2012, she coordinated scouting, planned practices, organized skill clinics and handled other duties for the program before taking a position with the non-profit organization Center for Women & Enterprise in Sandy, Mass.
In joining Daynia La-Force's staff, Girard is again working with assistant coach Marcus Reilly, whom she played for at Rhode Island College. In her first season at RIC, Girard led the team to the semifinals of the conference tournament, the furthest the program had advanced in more than a decade. The next season, Girard led RIC to its first Little East Conference championship and a run to the second round of the NCAA National Championship. Girard played her freshman and sophomore seasons at the Community College of Rhode Island, where she led her team to back-to-back appearances in the Elite 8 of the NCJAA National Championships. Both years her team won the regular season Region XXI Title, as well as the New England District Tournament. Girard left CCRI as the school’s all-time assists leader.
A Rhode Island native, Girard lives in Foster.
