KINGSTON, R.I. - Two members of the University of Rhode Island men's cross country team were honored by the Atlantic 10 conference yesterday as its Performer and Rookie of the Week.

Ryan Karwiel was named A-10 Performer of the week after his 18th place finish at the CCSU Mini Meet in New Britain, Conn. The junior covered the five-kilometer course in a time of 15:43.

Teammate Michael Pezzullo was honored at the league's top rookie this past week. The freshman placed 64th overall at the CCSU Mini Meet, in a time of 16:21. URI finished eighth overall as a team.

Next up for the Rams is the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championship, to be held at the campus course at Charlotte on Saturday, Nov. 1.
