CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The University of Rhode Island men's cross country team placed 13th overall at the 2008 Atlantic 10 championship, held on the campus course at Charlotte.

The Rams totaled 378 points on the day. Massachusetts took the team title, with 75 total points.

Ryan Karwiel led the Rams with his 56th place finish overall. He covered the five-mile course in a time of 25:56.43. Michael Pezzullo placed 84th overall, in a time of 26:43.5.

Daniel Hawkins (113th place, 27:30.1) and Nathan Ruchames (115th place, 27:34.3) were the third and fourth Rams to cross the finish line. Kevin Healey rounded out the Rhody scorers, in 122nd place (27:52.5). Joseph Ferro was the final URI finisher, placing 134th (29:04.0). Charlotte's Adu Dentamo won the individual crown, in a time of 24:01.9.

Rhode Island returns to action on Nov. 15 at the 2008 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship, held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y.
