BOSTON -- Rhode Island placed 38th overall as a team at the 2009 New England Championship, held at Franklin Park in Boston.

Justin Ellison led the way for URI, finishing 152nd. He covered the five-mile course in a time of 26:38. Nathan Ruchames was the second Rhody runner, finishing 188th overall in a time of 26:56.

Corey Coogan crossed the finish line in 232nd place (27:28), followed close behind by Kevin Healey (237th, 27:30). Michael Pezzullo rounded out the Rhode Island scorers, in 242nd place (27:34).

Nate Wigton (257th, 28:00) and Daniel Hawkins (260th, 28:11) rounded out the Rams' finishers.

Rhode Island returns to action on Oct. 24, when they travel to New Britain, Conn. for a dual meet at Central Connecticut.
