BOSTON -- The University of Rhode Island men's cross country finished 28th overall at the New England Championship, held today at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.

URI totaled 719 points. Brown captured the team title, with a total of 95 points.

For the Rams, Ryan Karweil was the top finisher, crossing the line in 89th place. He clocked 26:42 for the eight-kilometer course. Nathan Ruchames was URI's second man, finishing 135th in a time of 27:23. Ryan Moore placed 143rd (27:30), while Matthew Gallagher was 159th (27:47). Christopher Bienki rounded out the Rhode Island scorers, finishing in 205th place (28:35). Cornelius McCaffrey (241st, 29:33) and and Jaymeson Kumm (258th, 30:17) rounded out the URI finishers.

Boston College's Patrick Mellea took top individual honors, crossing the finish line in 24:45.

Rhode Island returns to action on Oct. 27 at the Atlantic 10 Championship, held at Belmont Park in Philadelphia.
