Rams Place Third at Trinity Invitational

MANCHESTER, Conn. -- The University of Rhode Island men's cross country team made its 2007 debut at the Trinity College Invitational at Wickham Park in Manchester, Conn.

Rhode Island compiled a team score of 103 points. Host Trinity College won the event, with 22 points. Tufts placed second overall, with 43 points.

Matthew Gallagher led the Rams with his 10th place finish. He covered the five-kilometer course in a time of 17:08. Ryan Karwiel finished 14th (17:17), followed by Nathan Ruchames in 16th (17:21). Jaymeson Kumm (35th, 18:39), Cornelius McCaffer (40th, 18:50) and Michael Kazmierczak (48th, 19:00) rounded out the scorers for URI.

The Rams return to action on Sept. 14 at the Boston College Invitational at Franklin Park in Boston.
