Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Preseason Poll Released

Oct. 23, 2008

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island men's and women's indoor track and field teams were picked to finish second and third, respectively, at the 2009 Atlantic 10 Championships, according to the conference's preseason coaches' poll released on Thursday.

The men's team, which finished second in the conference last season, returns First Team All-Conference members in juniors Tyler Adams (Newport, R.I.) and Shawn Leonard (Stoughton, Mass.). A year ago, Leonard won the high jump with a performance of 6 feet, 8.25 inches, while Adams took second in the shot put with a mark of 51-7.

The women's team will look to improve on last year's third place finish from a year ago. Senior TyLynn Graham (North Attleboro, Mass.) returns to the mix after winning the high jump with a leap of 5-7 en route to earning First Team All-Conference honors.

This year both men's and women's indoor track teams will be in search of their sixth indoor championships title. The 2009 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships are set for Feb. 20-21 in Kingston, R.I. at Mackal Field House.
