GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Ashhad Agyapong earned a spot in the 2007 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship by virtue of his fifth place finish in the 200m at the NCAA Eat Regional Championship tonight at the University of Florida.

In the 200m, Agyapong placed fifth overall, clocking 20.72 seconds. Florida State's Walter Dix took top honors in this event, registering a time of 19.69 seconds - a collegiate best, passing the previous mark of 19.75 by Joe DeLoach in 1988.

It marks the second time Agyapong has qualified for the national championship meet. He also earned a spot in the 2007 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship in the 200m. He placed 13th in the preliminary heats.

He also placed sixth in the 100m, clocking 10.64 seconds. Dix crossed the line in 10.05 seconds to capture the race.

In other results, Ryan McCarthy placed 21st in the javelin, with a throw of 192-00.
