GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Ashhad Agyapong advanced to Saturday's 100m and 200m finals at the 2007 NCAA East Regional, being held at the University of Florida.

The senior sprinter clocked 10.40 seconds in the second heat. Each of the four trial heat winners, plus the next four fastest times, advanced to the championship race. Michael Bland clocked 10.73 seconds in the first heat, but did not advance.

In the 200m, Agyapong blazed to a time of 20.71 seconds in the fourth of five preliminary heats. In this race, the five heat winners plus the next three fastest performances advanced.

In other results, LaeJon Brooks placed 11th in the prelims of the 110m hurdles, clocking 14.28 seconds. Derek Peterson finished 12th in the discus, with a toss of 163-04. Michael Bernardo was 23rd in the hammer throw, with a heave of 179-05.
