Peterson, Keeling Compete at NCAA East Regional Championship

Click here for full meet results GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Two members of the Rhode Island men's outdoor track & field team competed at the 2009 NCAA East Regional Championship, held at North Carolina A&T. Derek Peterson placed 10th overall in the discus throw. The junior's best throw of the competition was a 170-05 toss (51.95m). It was a closely contested field, as eight competitors were separated by six feet, from second place to 10th. The top five finishers in each event in each region earn an automatic qualifying spot in the 2009 NCAA Championship. The national championship meet will be held from at the University of Arkansas from June 10-13. In the javelin throw, Jacob Keeling was 10th overall. He registered a throw of 202-00 (61.57m).
