KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island Rams men's track and field team fell to La Salle at the Atlantic 10 men's track & field championship Saturday, February 22, 2003

Rhode Island swept the pole vault when freshman Adam Zucconi (Marlton, N.J.) earned first with his jump of 15-03, freshman Dustin Bilbruck (Gillespie, Ill.) grabbed second (14-09) and sophomore Taylor Majewski (Warwick, N.Y.) jumped for third reaching 14-03 ¼ .

The Rams cornered throwing events with senior tri-captain William Johnston (Warwick, R.I.) throwing for first in the weight throw (55-01), sophomore Sean Bramley (New Paltz, N.Y.) throwing for second in the weight throw (50-08) and shot put (47-09 ¼ ), freshman Andre Reid (South Windsor, Conn.) throwing for third in the weight (50-02) and first in the shot put (51-10) and junior Joseph Curran (Syosset, N.Y.) finishing third for Rhode Island in the shot put with a throw of 41-08 ¾.

In jumps, Ram's junior Colin Aina (East Providence, R.I.) successfully defended his long jump title jumping 22-09 ¾ for a first place medal while sophomore Evan Lima (Warwick, R.I.) earned his first Atlantic 10 title in the high jump reaching 6-07 and sophomore Kevin Lopes (Portsmouth, R.I.) tied for third in the high jump, jumping 6-03 ¼. Junior Chad Washington (Monticello, N.Y.) earned a runners up spot in the triple with his jump of 45-08 ½ while Lima also grabbed a bronze jumping 45-05 ¾ .

Aina defended his 55m high hurdles title for the second time with a time of 7.39, while freshman Eric Groce (Rutland, Vt.) earned a runners up titles in the 200m dash with his time of 22.21, the 55m dash with a time of 6.46 and the Rams 4x400m relay team came in third with their time of 3:22.92.
