2001-2002:
Earned first-place with a throw of 192'10.0" in the hammer throw at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor championship meet...Earned a third place finish at the Outdoor ICAAAA meet (198') in the hammer throw...Also was the runner-up at the outdoor New Englands (59.59 meters)...Placed third at the prestigious Penn Relays with a toss of 192'...Also finished third in the hammer at the Kansas Relays...Was the Atlantic 10 Indoor runner-up in the 35 lb. weight...Earned two Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week citations.
Previous College:
Participated on the University of Virginia men's track team under coach Jason Tweedlt...holds school record for farthest hammer throw (190'11")...earned all-conference in 1999 and 2000 as well as an all-ICAAAA title in 2000.
High School:
Soccer: Played in the center-mid position for coach Michael Rooney...earned an all-state title in 1998...was voted conference most valuable player in 1998...earned team most valuable player in 1998 and was voted team captain for the 1997-1998 season.
Track: Played under coach Bill Johnston...earned All-American titles in the hammer (220'10") and weight throw (68'7") in 1998...helped team win a state championship title in 1999 and was voted team captain during the 1998-1999 season.
Academically earned high honors through out years attended...worked as a tutor...volunteered as a peer minister...was nominated as a Providence Journal Honor Roll Boy and Man of the Year candidate in 1999...and earned the Lou DiBrasca Award.

Johnston of Warwick, R.I...A general science education major...Has met Dave Matthews, Maurice Greene, and the music group No Doubt...Has visited England, Italy, and Canada...His sister is the throwers' coach on the women's track and field team...enjoys lifting and cooking.
