Honka earned academic all-conference for the fifth time in his career, and the third year in a row he has earned a spot on the outdoor team. He has also earned all-academic honors during the 2015 and 2017 indoor seasons.
Honka was the first pole vaulter in Rhode Island history to qualify for the NCAA Regionals three times in his career. This year, he finished 39th after clearing his opening height of 4.85 meters. At the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship, Honka finished runner-up after clearing 4.85 meters. Honka had a season-best 5.08 meter clearance at the IC4A's, placing fourth.
A native of Opava, Czech Republic, Honka graduated in 2017 with a degree in supply chain management with a 3.86 GPA. He is now enrolled in the MBA program and has cumulated a GPA of 3.73.
Mattson earned academic all-conference for the second time in his career. He was the anchor of the 1-4 hammer sweep by Rhode Island with a throw of 52.03 meters for fourth at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship. Mattson had a season-best 53.48 meter hammer throw at the IC4A's.
The Newport, R.I. native owns a 3.76 GPA as a Mechanical Engineering major.
The Rams also had four individuals named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team. Anthony Delasanta (400 meters), Derek Jacobs (discus), Drew Nealey (decathlon) and Trevor Rooney (triple jump) all earned all-rookie honors.
The all-rookie team is comprised of the top-rookie performer in each event from meets conducted from the start of the regular season through the Atlantic 10 Championships. The teams were selected based off meet results submitted through the Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS).
