KINGSTON, R.I. — Rhode Island men's track and field has collected conference accolades for the third week of the 2018 outdoor season. Nigel Hill was named Track Performer of the Week while Brandon Amo collected Field Performer of the Week honors.
Hill, a 100 meter and 200 meter specialist, ran just his fourth 400 meter dash with a time of 46.86 seconds at last Tuesday's Holy Cross Classic. The time is second in program history, top in the Atlantic 10 and qualifies him for the first round of NCAA's in a second event.
Amo had a career week after he finished third in the hammer throw with his first 60 meter effort (60.08m) at the Penn Relays on Saturday. He then came back on Sunday to throw in the Brown Springtime Invitational and threw another career best of 60.66m (199' 0") to take over the conference lead. He's currently 43rd in the region.
Hill, Amo, and the rest of the men's track and field squad look to defend their title this weekend at the 2018 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by George Mason. Live results will be available here.
